Paperback because they are more portable. Everywhere I go, I want to have a book with me, in case I get bored of watching people. Plus, normally books are twice the price for hardcover.
Wouldn't mind seeing my name on a dust jacket though :-)
I tend to lean toward paperbacks myself, for both portability and cost. And moving...I have to relinquish several boxes of books in anticipation of the next one.
