Book Trailers (thoughts on the good and examples)

Looks like the obsession with book trailers is here to stay. The topic keeps getting hotter, and I can't honestly figure out why - I've purchased exactly zero books as a result of a trailer, so I'm wondering how many of you guys have different experiences.

That said, there are some titles that made my radar because of an exceptional video. I just haven't purchased them yet.

That said, most book trailers, even for the big guys, kind of suck.

I did some digging and found some that don't:

This one, the writer created herself - so it can be done.

  1. I really haven't watched any book trailers, and honestly, I don't care to. *shrugs*

I'd watch the ones you've put here if I could watch youtube at work, but I can't.

  2. That's a great point - I honestly don't think book trailers are particularly effective advertising to sell books. I appreciate them for what they are, but only one has ever gotten me interested enough to look for the actual book if I wasn't familiar with it before.

That was for Body Farm, and the 'trailer' was a spectacular interview with a forensic scientist.
